Collegiate Honors for 3 Athletes

A trio of Desert Speed School athletes now playing at the collegiate level have been recognized for their recent accomplishments. Cienega grad Nick Gonzales, now playing for New Mexico State, was named WAC Freshman of the Year – the first in New Mexico State history. Gonzales was also honored as a Division I Freshman All-American.

Another Tucson baseball standout, Zach Rosson, was also honored for a strong season at the plate. The team leader in batting for Northwestern College, Rosson helped lead his Red Raiders to a conference title and a trip to the national championship tournament. He was recognized for his season and earned GPAC All-Conference honors.

On the softball side, Salpointe grad and Desert Speed School athlete Allie Curtis was honored for her play on the field as well as her performance in the classroom. One of the most difficult collegiate players to strike out, Curtis carries a 3.45 GPA in mathematics and was named MAC Academic All-Conference.
