Five collegiate athletes among 2016 honorees

A number of Tucson-area athletes were honored in 2016 for their collegiate achievements, ranging from Cholla’s Sean Elliot being named to the Pac-12 All-Century team to more contemporary awards. Among those collegiate athletes receiving recognition were five Speed School athletes:

Deion James (Empire High School, Pima basketball) – ACCAC Player of the Week Dec. 15th

Taylor Anderson (Salpointe High School, Pima soccer) – ACCAC All Conference 2016, Region 1 Honorable Mention

Allie Curtis (Salpointe High School, Central Michigan soccer) – MAC Player of the Week April 18th, MAC All-Conference 1st-team, All-Freshman team

Iliana Gonzales (Salpointe High School, Franciscan basketball) – Allegheny Mountain All-Conference 1st-team

Jeremy Timpf (Sabino High School, U.S. Military Academy football) – Creighton W. Abrams Award, Heart of Dallas Bowl champion, tied HOD Bowl record for tackles
