Preseason wins for Speed School athletes

posted in: News, Tennis

The top 16 tennis players in Southern Arizona met up for a sort of “preseason state championship” earlier this month, with strong showings from three Speed School athletes. On both the boys’ and girls’ side of the bracket, it was a case of the Lancers over the Falcons, with Salpointe’s Yash Parikh winning the championship match against Foothills’ Mike Lee. On the girls’ side, two Speed School athletes met for the title, with Caroline Amos prevailing over Kirtana Bhat.

Regrettably, we’ll be deprived of a rematch of these matchups for the state championships later this spring, as both schools play in different divisions. Amos, Bhat, and Parikh have all won singles state championships of their own coming into this season, and should be in the mix to contend for 2015 titles.
