The Tanque Verde girls’ volleyball team, expected to be one of the top 3A teams this season, is off to a strong start following a win in the TUSD Labor Day Tournament. The Hawks got solid play from Desert Speed School athlete and senior setter Shelby Lansing, who finished with 3 aces and 13 assists in the title game. Speed School athletes Jordyn Evans and Sarah Jacobs bring length and experience to the Tanque Verde front row, who went 7-0 (now 8-0 overall) to win the tournament. Full story…
The championship game featured Desert Speed School athletes on both sides of the court, with the runner-up Empire Ravens playing four Speed School athletes in their rotation: Sophia Vera, Sarah Lewis, Emily Brown, and Alyssa O’Daniel.
