As reported by Andy Morales of AZPreps365, Desert Speed School athletes Colin Douglas and Landon McKendrick helped lead the Mica Mountain boys’ soccer team to a quarterfinal win over rival Salpointe in the prestigious Open Division of the high school postseason tournament.
Going into penalties after a 3-3 regulation and overtime period, McKendrick opened up the action for the Bolts with the first PK, and Douglas sealed the win for Mica with the final PK. With the win, the Bolts – including defender and fellow Speed School athlete Evan Mayfield – will now face #2 Catalina Foothills on Wednesday with a trip to the state championship match on the line.
