Salpointe’s CJ Franks and Cienega’s Thomas Webb, Jr. are both among 13 Tucson-area football players announced as recipients of the National Football Federation High School Scholar Athlete Honorees, according to AllSportsTucson.com. The recognition includes scholarship assistance, and is based on athletic and academic achievement along with community involvement. Players will be recognized at the annual Awards luncheon later this week, an event that will also feature lifetime achievement awards for former UofA football coach Dick Tomey and legendary referee Cleo Robinson.
