Salpointe’s Dreis An X-Factor

posted in: Football, News

With Salpointe playing tonight for the 5A State Championship against #1 Horizon, The Arizona Central has identified Lancer wide receiver Dylan Dreis as a potential X-factor in this #1 v. #2 matchup for the state title.

His natural position is quarterback and the 6-5, 195-pound senior has shown off his arm enough this season to let defenses know how versatile he can be (12 of 19, 237 yards and two TDs). But what he brings to the table is his size and athleticism at wide receiver with senior QB Treyson Bourguet taking advantage of the mismatches he presents. Last week, Dreis hauled in a 30-yard scoring pass as time expired to put an exclamation point on the Lancers’ 29-17 semifinal win over Desert Edge. He has 31 catches for 472 yards and seven TDs.

Meanwhile, The Arizona Daily Star has singled out the Lancer defense as a potential game-changer, and lineman Lateef OliwoOlabode and defensive back Jaxson Greene are certain to be central in that effort. Full story…
