As reported by AllSportsTucson, both the boys’ and girls’ soocer 4A state championship games will be Southern-Arizona matchups, with #2 Mica Mountain taking on #4 Salpointe on the boys’ side, and #2 Walden Grove facing off against rival #4 Salpointe for the girls’ title.
Both matchups will feature Desert Speed School athletes vying for state titles, with Mica’s Colin Douglas, Evan Mayfield, and Landon McKendrick taking the field for the Bolts against Salpointe’s Jamie Myer, Nico Soto, and Adrian Franks.
In the girls game, Salpointe will be led by Speed School athletes EC Cazares, Emma Veliz, and Valeria Campos as they take on a tough Walden squad following the Lancers’ win over #1 seed Flagstaff in the semifinal game. Salpointe and Walden battled to a tie early in the season, and the title game should be yet another battle in the history of these two programs.
