Desert Speed School athletes Sasha Ganem (Salpointe) and Avery Howayeck (Catalina Foothills) each represented their schools at the State Championships recently. Ganem took 5th in the 50 Free and 9th in the 100 backstroke, while she and her teammates took 3rd in the 200 Medley Relay and 4th in the 200 Free Relay.
For her part, Howayeck finished 9th in the 100 breaststroke while also finishing 3rd (200 Free Relay) and 7th (200 Medley Relay) along with her relay teammates.
