Castaneda Earns Summit League Honors

Desert Speed School athlete and University of North Dakota senior catcher Cassie Castaneda was named an Honorable Mention All-Summit League selection following the 2024 collegiate softball season. According to a university press release:

Castaneda has been the top Hawk at the plate during the conference season boasting a .319 batting average in 18 games played. Castaneda has started every game this season for UND behind the plate and has caught a conference high seven runners trying to steal. On the season, Castaneda has thrown out 18 runners, a mark that sits tied for second across the NCAA. Of the 18 conference games, she recorded a hit in 12 of those contests and reached base safely 13 times and is currently carrying a four-game hit streak. Her best series at the plate in league play came against the Bison where she went 5-for-7, with a pair of walks, tallied two RBIs and scored twice.
