With the high school baseball and softball playoffs now underway, seven Desert Speed School-led teams have advanced to the second round of the state playoffs. As reported by Javier Morales of AllSportsTucson, the following teams and Speed School athletes won their first round matchups:
#5 Cienega (Sophia Butt) 8-0 over Ironwood Ridge
#4 Salpointe (Brooke Wild, Jordan Goedel) 3-0 over Prescott
#7 Empire (Morgan Faunce) 18-0 over Crimson
#11 Tanque Verde (Chloe Hotchkiss, Shea Reilly, Lizzy Pratt) 7-4 over Winslow
#6 Catalina Foothills (Nate Shoemaker, Luke Burns, Henry Nentl, Levi Anderson, Ari Schiller) 9-6 over Canyon View
#4 Salpointe (Roman Fina, Izaiah Moraga, Paul Saffer) 3-1 over Walden Grove
#3 Desert Christian (Cruz Smith, Jonathan Camacho) 16-0 over El Capitan
