As reported by AllSportsTucson and MaxPreps, Desert Speed School athletes continue to rank among the area statistical leaders on the volleyball court. Empire standout Madison Gardner is currently ranked #1 in aces and #5 in assists, while Catalina Foothills outside hitter Molly Brunell (above) vaulted herself to the #2 slot for kills, following a dominating tournament performance in Phoenix in which she was named MVP. Meanwhile, Salpointe defensive specialist Megan Muehlebach is ranked 3rd in digs, and Mica Mountain setter Addy Andrews is 5th in assists for her 4A Gila Region champion Thunderbolt team.
The play-in tournament starts on Tuesday for qualifying teams, with the automatic qualifiers waiting in the wings to takes them on in the first round later this week.
