Desert Speed School athletes Gavin Gilbert and Eli Clausen were among the AllSportsTucson Top Performers following the first week of the high school football season. As reported by Javier Morales, Clausen had 7 tackles and 2 sacks for the Hawks, with Gilbert also bringing the defensive pressure with 12 tackles (4 for loss) of his own.
A two-way star, Gilbert also rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown as Tanque Verde won 19-6 over Phoenix Christian.
