As reported by Javier Morales of AllSportsTucson, Tanque Verde’s Gavin Gilbert was nominated for the prestigious Ed Doherty Medallion recently, following his standout performance for the Hawks in a 30-3 win over Glendale Prep. Gilbert, a two-way RB/LB had 2 touchdowns to go along with 206 yards rushing, and added 10 tackles and a sack on the defensive side of the ball. The nomination puts him in the running for the weekly medallion along with the 2023 Ed Doherty Award.
Gilbert’s teammates, meanwhile, were named as Top Performers for the week following the school-record Tanque Verde 7th win of the season. Players recognized were:

Eli Clausen (5 tackles, 1 sack)
Gavin Bradshaw (61 yards rushing, 1 TD; 8 tackles)
