Following a senior season in which Tanque Verde’s Gavin Gilbert helped lead his Hawks football team to the best season in school history, Gilbert was named a finalist for the prestigious Bijan Robinson Player of the Year honors from the Southern Arizona Chapter of the National Football Federation.
Gilbert was a two-way standout for Tanque Verde throughout the season, leading all of Southern Arizona in tackles, tackles for loss, all while being one of the most productive players offensively in the area. Tanque Verde finished 9-3 on the season and made it to the state semifinals, setting school records for most wins and deepest postseason run.
