Desert Speed School athlete Nick Gonzales has picked up more recognition for his very strong freshman season for the New Mexico State baseball program. Already awarded as WAC Freshman of the Year, All-Conference, and Freshman All-American by no fewer than five publications, the Cienega grad was this time recognized for his work in the classroom, garnering WAC Academic All-Conference as well. UPDATE (7/30): More honors continue to roll in for Gonzales after his strong freshman season – the latest another All-American recognition, this time by D1Baseball.com. The Cienega grad has now been named All-American by six media outlets in addition to the aforementioned WAC Conference Awards. He will join forces with Aggie teammates and fellow Speed School athletes Andrew Edwards and incoming freshman Preston Clifford in 2018 as the team looks for another strong year nationally.
