Llamas Defense; Ponds’ Scoring Lead To Sahuaro Win

As reported by Javier Morales of AllSportsTucson, the Sahuaro boys’ basketball team won their first-round matchup against Paradise Honors on Wednesday night. The Cougars were led by “lightning-quick point guard” Cisco Llamas, whose on-ball defense led to transition points for Sahuaro, and fellow Speed School athletes Nick Ponds and Julian Yazon, who combined for 19 second-half points. Sahuaro’s second-half scoring along with stifling defense led to a dominating second half for the #4 Cougars. Sahuaro will look for revenge in the second round as they take on #5 Dystart – the team that eliminated them in last year’s playoffs.
