As reported by Andy Morales of AllSportsTucson, the Mica Mountain volleyball team – a new program competing at the varsity level for just two years – won the 4A Gila Region with a win over Sahuarita last week. Speed School athletes Addy Andrews and Sofia Bishop are part of the the Thunderbolts team, who are now 20-0 in the last two years against region competition. For her part, Andrews is currently ranked #2 in Southern Arizona in assists.
The region title qualifies Mica Mountain for the state tournament, which will begin November 2nd.
