Desert Speed School athlete and Tanque Verde football standout Gavin Gilbert received Player of the Week recognition from AllSportsTucson, following his dominating performance on both sides of the ball last week. Playing in a must-win game against the top region team Bisbee, Gilbert ran for 2 touchdowns along with 172 yards rushing. Meanwhile, he added 12 tackles on defense (1 for loss).
Tanque Verde teammate Eli Clausen also received Top Performer honors of his own after his 6 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 fumble recovery for the Hawks.
