As reported by Andy Morales of AllSportsTucson, the Salpointe girls soccer team – with Speed School athletes EC Cazares, Emma Veliz, and Valeria Campos on the roster- squared up against Walden Grove last week for a showdown of epic proportions, as the game was not only a rematch of an early-season 1-1 tie, but also one which had the 4A state championship on the line.
Having reached the title game with a 3-0 semifinal win over #1-seed Flagstaff, Salpointe was looking to defend their 2023 title win – a win over none other than Walden Grove. The Lancers took the early lead with a goal from Cazares (6′), but the Red Wolves ultimately took the win and the 4A title with a 3-1 victory.
