Traditional Southern Arizona volleyball powerhouses Salpointe and Cienega squared off this week in an early-season battle between the schools. Salpointe ultimately prevailed in a 3-0 win that was quite a bit closer than the score may have suggested. As reported by Andy Morales of AllSportsTucson, the Lancers won the first set easily but had to come from behind on each of the next two sets, including a 17-4 run in the 3rd and deciding set to win 25-23. Desert Speed School athlete Chloe Zhang had 10 assists for Salpointe, and the Lancers also received clutch play from fellow Speed School athletes Megan Muehlebach, Leila Lowther, and Iris Wheeler.
