Three Desert Speed School athletes are among the top statistical leaders this softball season, according to MaxPreps. Defending 3A state champion-winning pitcher Riley Nielson of Sabino is currently #2 in wins, #4 in strikeouts, and #6 in ERA among all Southern Arizona players, while 4A state champion Logan Cole (Salpointe) is #8 in RBI. Meanwhile, CDO standout Sydnee Wendel is #2 in Southern Arizona in ERA while pitching for the Dorados.
