Tanque Verde football continues winning this season, now 5-1 on the season following a convincing 31-0 win over 12th-ranked Tombstone. As reported by Javier Morales of AllSportsTucson, Desert Speed School athletes Gavin Gilbert – “one of the best two-way stars in Southern Arizona” – and Eli Clausen are among the reasons for the strong start by the Hawks. Gilbert, a LB/RB, currently leads Southern Arizona in tackles for loss, and is ranked 8th in rushing on the offensive side of the ball. Meanwhile, defensive end Clausen is ranked 8th in sacks.
The win over Tombstone puts Tanque Verde at 3-0 in the 2A San Pedro Division, and ranked 6th in state.
