As reported by Javier Morales of AllSportsTucson, #6 Tanque Verde defeated #1 Empire recently, snapping the defending champions’ 39-game win streak that had extended back to last season. A young team – Morales points out they have 13 underclassmen on the team – the Hawks’ roster includes five Speed School athletes: Cassidy Jones, Shea Reilly, Julia Pratt, Lizzy Pratt, and Ella Haggard. The win puts Tanque Verde in three-way tie with Empire and Sabino – a powerhouse in their own right – for the 3A South title, with all three teams likely contenders for the 3A State Championship.
