Three Desert Speed School athletes now competing at the collegiate level were recently recognized with academic honors from the 2023-24 academic year. Locally, Catalina Foothills grad and Pima College sprinter Paden Hall was named a 3rd-Team Academic All-American, while fellow Pima College athlete Jasmin Joseph – an outside hitter for the Aztec volleyball program – earned 1st-team Academic All-American honors with her 4.0 GPA.
Meanwhile, Sabino HS and University of North Dakota graduate Cassie Castaneda completed her storied collegiate career with academic honors to go along with her numerous athletic achievements, earning Summit League Academic Excellence distinction. One of the top catchers in the country, Castaneda started every game for the Fighting Hawks for two consecutive seasons and became the first player in program history to surpass 200 games played over the course of her career.
