Tanque Verde continued their record-setting season with a 24-0 first-round win over 10th-ranked Parker last week, advancing to the quarterfinals for the first time in school history. As reported by Andy Morales of AZPreps365, the Hawks are just a few years removed from a challenging 0-15 stretch for the program from 2018-2019, and are just two wins away from the state championship game.

Tanque Verde was dominant in the game, with Desert Speed School athletes scoring all three touchdowns for the team: Quarterback Grayson Bradshaw‘s first-half touchdown run and standout RB/LB Gavin Gilbert‘s touchdown run and second-half fumble return for TD. Speed School athlete Rocco Haggard also added a first-half interception and Josh Lopez amassed 14 tackles to help keep Parker scoreless.

Following his dominating performance on both sides of the ball, Gilbert was named Player of the Week by the Arizona Bowl. Tanque Verde now advances to face #2 Arizona Lutheran tonight in a win-or-go-home game for both teams.
