Wedman Named RMAC Player of the Week

Desert Speed School athlete Lauren Wedman, the current Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference leader in slugging and RBI, was recently named RMAC Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. From the Colorado Mesa press release:

For the second week in a row, Colorado Mesa University redshirt sophomore outfielder Lauren Wedman has been named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s Softball Player of the Week.  The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon and comes after Wedman continued her hot start to the season, going 7-for-13 (.538) with two doubles, two home runs and 11 RBIs to help lead the Mavericks to a 4-game series sweep over the Colorado School of Mines on Saturday and Sunday.

The Tucson, Arizona native also scored six runs, slugged at a 1.154 clip and had a .571 on-base percentage, good for a 1.714 OPS throughout the weekend.

Both of her home runs came in a come-from-behind 9-8 victory on Saturday.  She went a combined 5-for-8 with eight RBIs in that day’s doubleheader, recording four RBIs in each game.  She also had two doubles in the first game of that doubleheader before coming up with a big 3-run hit in the series finale on Sunday.

Wedman now has an 18-game hitting streak and has reached safely in 24 consecutive games dating back to last season.
