XC State Meet Results, All-Stars

With the fall cross-country season now complete following the State Meets and NXR, a number of Desert Speed School athletes have earned All-Star recognition for their seasons. At the high school level, Salpointe senior Aric Accetta helped lead his Lancer team to a 6th-place team finish at the state meet with his 9th overall placing, while Tanque Verde’s Andrew Smith was named D3 Runner of the Year following a historic season for the Hawks. On the girls’ side, Mica Mountain’s Madison Vigil was part of a Bolts’ team that finished 4th overall. High school runners earning all-star recognition included:

Andrew Smith, Tanque Verde – Division Runner of the Year, 1st-team Southern Arizona, 1st-team Division, 25th at State

Aric Accetta, Salpointe – 1st-team Southern Arizona, 1st-team Division, 9th at State

Madison Vigil, Mica Mountain – 3rd-team Division, 38th at State

Marley Gandee, Sahuaro – 3rd-team Southern Arizona, 1st-team Division, 46th at State

Noah Hymson, Sabino – 2nd-team Southern Arizona, 2nd-team Division, 38th at State

At the younger levels, a number of Speed School athletes had strong performances at the state level. Middle school and elementary runners with top performances included:

Finley Johnson – 2nd (Girls 4th-6th)

Isa Portillo – 4th (Girls 4th-6th)

Evan Smith – 9th (Boys 7th-8th)

Makoto Lara 40th (Boys 7th-8th)

Isla Cerepak 41st (Girls 7th-8th)

Claire Maberry 58th (Girls 7th-8th)
