With the high school sports season right around the corner, Arizona Daily Star sportswriter Greg Hansen has included in his weekly Sunday column the Tucson-area teams he expects to contend for state championships this 2019-2020 season. Seven teams with Speed School athletes were included in his selections:
Sabino Football (Nathan Swanberg, Max Rabich, Michael Masunas), Foothills Tennis (Krishna Dasika), Sabino Girls Basketball (Kiya Dorroh), Salpointe Girls Cross-Country (Nique Teixiera), CDO baseball (Mac Kochanski, Lucas Cardy), Salpointe softball (Jordy Johnson), Salpointe girls soccer (Sydney Lenhart, Sophia Sethi, Valentina Campos).
