The high school volleyball playoffs have arrived, and three local teams with Speed School athletes have qualified for the state tournament. Catalina Foothills (Molly Brunell, Tori Staples, Delaney Reuter), ranked #11 in 5A, won their play-in game to qualify for the tournament, although the Falcons lost a tough first-round matchup to Williams Field.
Meanwhile, 4A #4 Mica Mountain (Addy Andrews, Sofia Bishop) won their first-round matchup over Sahuarita 3-0 to set up a second-round match against #5 AZ College Prep. As reported by Andy Morales, the Thunderbolts got 28 assists from setter Addy Andrews to move to 17-1 in ranking matches.
#6 Salpointe also won their first-round matchup in convincing fashion, defeating Queen Creek 3-0. The Lancers’ roster includes Speed School athletes Megan Muehlebach, Leila Lowther, Iris Wheeler, and Chloe Zhang.
