Desert Speed School athlete Riley Nielson was named March Athlete of the Month by AllSportsTucson – no surprise considering the pitcher’s impressive stats from the circle: 8-0 with a 0.98 ERA during the month of March. As reported by AllSportsTucson, Nielson, a Southern Utah signee, has 91 strikeouts on the year, while also batting .442 from the plate for her #3 Sabino team.
The recognition for Nielson marks the second consecutive month a Speed School athlete has earned Athlete of the Month honors, following Trinity Morales’ recognition in February.
