The track season has begun with early-season invitationals taking place, and Desert Speed School athletes are already performing at a high level. Competition was fierce at the Levi Wallace Tucson High Invitational last weekend with 26 schools from Tucson, Phoenix, and Southern Arizona all competing. Eight Speed School athletes finished in the Top 10 for their events; highlighted by Catalina Foothills’ Zoe Goerdenhire’s triple wins in the 100, 200, and 4×100, and Tanque Verde distance standout runner Andrew Smith winning the 1600m with a strong early-season 4:35 time.
